Lithium Battery Product FAQ

The BMS is our factory co-develop with the Baiwei.

Cold temperatures remain a challenge for lithium battery performance. Two approaches exist:

Use batteries with low-temperature electrolytes, though costs are significantly higher.
Adopt sodium-ion, solid-state, or semi-solid-state batteries – none mass-produced.
Standard lithium batteries cannot charge below 0°C or discharge below -15°C or -20°C. Our solution uses heating pads to warm batteries in cold conditions before activation.
The working principle of the LFP battery heating plate: Charge at low temperature: when the temperature NTC detects the temperature reached which data we set (such as -5℃) when the charger is charging, the battery will prioritize the heating plate so that its temperature reaches the data we set (such as 5℃). Then, the battery can be charged in a low-temperature environment. Discharge in low temperature: when discharging below -20℃, you need to charge the battery with the charger. Firstly, the heating plate starts to heat up, then the battery temperature rises to the range the battery can work, and the battery discharges.

Yes, Bluetooth is an optional function. You can search “Bluetooth BMS” in the Apple Store or Google Play.

One 48v whole battery pack has a lower internal resistance, better consistency, more stability, and longer cycle life compared with a 2pcs 24v battery pack or a 4pcs 12v battery pack.

Yes, -20℃~65℃.

And heating function is optional.

About our production process for the 12v deep cycle battery, you can refer to the file I did for my customer in USA before: Click to view

we also have upgrade inside structure with metal holder to do better in the vibration environment.

Yes. The battery can be put in parallel or series by customers. But there are few tips we need to pay attention:

  • Make sure the voltage of each battery are same before put in parallel. If they are not same, charge them to the same voltage.
  • Don’t not put discharged battery and undischarged battery in parallel. This may reduce the capacity of the whole battery pack.
  • Advise us the target capacity of the whole pack if you would like to put them in series. We will choose the suitable BMS for each battery.
  • If you are not professional in parallel and series batteries, please don’t handle the battery by yourself. It may cause danger and hurt the cycle life of battery.

Yes. Inverters can still perform basic DC-to-AC discharge and AC-to-DC charging without communication.

Matching communication protocols allows inverters to read battery parameters (e.g., voltage, temperature) for optimized performance. A protocol mismatch doesn’t prevent operation – it simply means the inverter treats the lithium battery like a lead-acid battery (no BMS data access).

Yes, you can, now we Support setting the protocol by LCD ( Such as: 5Kw Powerwall battery)

It’s very easy for you when your customer use different brands inverters.

Integrated home storage systems (battery + inverter) require thermal management due to heat from power modules. Key cooling methods:

  1. Fans

    • Lower cost
    • Limited weatherproofing (typically IP20)
  2. Aluminum heat sinks

    • Higher weather resistance (IP65)
    • Increased material costs
  3. Advanced methods (e.g., liquid cooling): Rarely used in residential units due to complexity.

Selection guidance:

  • Prioritize fan-cooled systems for indoor/dry installations needing budget-friendly solutions.
  • Choose heat sink designs for outdoor/humid environments requiring durability.

Advantages:

  1. Superior low-temperature performance – Addresses limitations of LiFePO4 batteries in cold climates.
  2. High discharge rates – Supports rapid energy transfer with reduced thermal management demands.
  3. Enhanced safety – Inherently stable chemistry drives market interest.
  4. Cycle life alignment – Matches energy storage requirements despite lower energy density vs. lithium.

Challenges:

  1. Current cost premium – Requires mass production scaling (2-3 years) to achieve cost parity.
  2. Energy density gap – ~30% lower than lithium, though acceptable for stationary storage applications.

Market outlook:

  • Sodium-ion expected to capture significant grid/ESS market share by 2026.
  • Keheng now offers pilot sodium-ion storage systems and low-speed EV prototypes. [Contact Us]

Usually we ship as 6AWG 16mm² 1.5m length, which can cover 100A current.
ps If it is 100A current, with wire, usually one 6AWG 1.5m wire for each positive and negative pole is enough, the price is $17; if you need to pass 200A current, with wire, you need to note in the order that you need two 6AWG 1.5m wires for each pole, the price is $30.

Passive balancing  (used in 99% of commercial batteries):

  • Works by burning excess energy from high-capacity cells via resistors (like cutting a barrel’s long planks to match the shortest).
  • Mature, low-cost, but reduces total usable capacity.

Active balancing  (optional upgrade for our home storage systems):

  • Transfers energy between cells to preserve total capacity (like redistributing wood from long planks to short ones).
  • Higher cost (+¥200 for 3A current capability) and complex circuitry.

Our standard BMS uses passive balancing for reliability and cost efficiency. Active balancing is available for specialized applications requiring maximum capacity retention.

We can match with mainstream inverter brands, such as Growatt, Victor, Must, Goodwe, Deye, etc.

Customer Question:

We have installed the all-in-one energy storage system device, but there is something strange: everything is working and connected to the grid, and the AI system is also connected to the grid. The battery is fully charged, but after 30 minutes, it started to charge again 2 times already, but it was not used. When the aio all switches are off but the grid is on, the display starts working no matter if the switches are off.

Answer:

From the characteristics of individual battery cells, when the actual battery reaches 100% capacity, the cell reaches 3.65V. After stopping charging, the voltage of the battery cell will drop to around 3.35V, the final stable voltage. Then, the inverter, which is in the mains priority mode, uses the battery as backup power and only uses the battery voltage when the mains power is unavailable. Therefore, the inverter repeatedly charges the battery and supplies voltage to the battery side to ensure it is always fully charged and has sufficient backup power. However, in reality, there is no current input to the battery. Unless the battery is fully charged, the voltage supplied to the battery is virtual, and there is no current.    So, you see the voltage fluctuation on the display screen, which is the voltage charged by the inverter to the battery after complete charging.

Need to see what mode you set. When the lithium battery is in standby mode, it will charge it regardless of whether there is input power from photovoltaic or mains, even if it is fully charged. The device must ensure that the battery current is fully charged to prevent the battery from having enough power to work when there is a power outage or no photovoltaic power. Unless the working mode is changed to photovoltaic and lithium battery priority mode, you can change to the SBU mode, solar first, then battery and grid to charge the load.

Definitions:

  • Low-voltage (LV) batteries: ≤60V (typically 48V systems).
  • High-voltage (HV) batteries: >60V.

Selection criteria:

  1. For loads ≤10kW:

    • Use 48V LV batteries – lower current minimizes efficiency losses.
  2. For loads >10kW:

    • Switch to HV batteries – reduces current to maintain system efficiency (high current in LV systems causes excessive resistive losses).

Inverter alignment:

  • Most >10kW inverters are designed for HV DC input to optimize power conversion.

Key rule: Match battery voltage tier (LV/HV) to your load’s power class – not just capacity.

The 15-unit parallel limit stems from address allocation design:

Standard 4-bit DIP switches provide 16 addresses (0-15).
Address 0 is reserved for the master controller, leaving 15 for battery units.
Technical scalability:

Higher capacities:
We can implement 5/6-bit DIP switches (32/64 addresses) for larger systems.
Hierarchical management:
Create battery clusters with sub-controllers for 100+ unit deployments.
Current market rationale:

15 parallel units (typically 30-45kWh) satisfy 95%+ residential needs.
Custom configurations available for commercial-scale requirements.
